2017 Spring Semester Topic Overview

We are anxiously awaiting Spring and the new beginnings it will be bringing for Educating Children Outdoors. Registration is officially open for the Spring preview semester and I am sure you are all wondering what the topics will be for our 2017 Spring semester. After careful deliberation we decided on the following topics.

MARCH:

March 14th - The first day of ECO will be going over rules, expectations and ice breakers. The ECO Explorers will recieve their nature exploration bags, create their nature journals, design their tree cookie name tags and make a survival kit. The ECO Explorers will also take thier first hike and decide together as a group what they want to do for their first citizen scientist project.  *no drop in option.

March 21st - Bird Behaviors - For March we will be focusing on bird migration. As Spring arrives she brings with it our fine feathered friends who sought out warmer weather for the Winter season. Can you blame them? Through hands on activities ECO Explorers will learn about migration and how scientist track birds. And they will create their very own bird feeder and even their own bird tracking bands.

After a long trip back to their native region the birds will be seeking a new place to call home so they can start their new families. Through hamds on activites ECO Explorers will learn about common bird species, what they can do to attract birds to their yard and pledge to help out our fabulous flying friends. They will also learn about nest building and create their own nesting box to help the birds with their challenging task.
